It will help you to see where you have gone wrong all these years.

Accurate calorie counting will require you to get a food scale (a cheap one on Amazon costs $15). At first, this will require a bit of effort, but once you see the progress you make - it will motivate you to continue. It will also help you when eating out at restaurants: you will know more or less how many ounces you are consuming based on the scale you are using at home.
