Burn the fat do some cardio

What is Cardio? Cardio is continuous exercise that elevates your heart rate for a specific length of time. Most physicians recommend 3-5 times of Cardio per week for 30-60 minutes. Cardio will help you to lose weight and burn fat, as long as you are not consuming too many calories.

There are 3 types of Cardio:

1. Zero impact, such as cycling and swimming.

2. Low impact, such as using an elliptical machine or just walking.

3. High impact, such as running and jumping.

For longevity I would recommend low impact or no impact Cardio. No sense destroying your joints for the sake of fitness. It is important to get your body in the right zone for your goal. Your estimated maximum heart rate in beats per minute equals 220 minus your age in years.

Your fat burning zone will be between 65 and 85 percent of your predicted maximum heart rate. I highly recommend you get a heart rate monitor. Most importantly, find an activity that works for you and is convenient. I enjoy biking as it helps me get into my zone, both mentally and physically. If you don’t pedal, you stop…just like running, where if you don’t move you stop. This helps you stay in your zone, whereas if you are on an elliptical, you can just go through the motions and not really burn many calories…unless you are using a heart rate monitor and really paying attention to your heart rate zone. A good way to judge is if you are able to hold a conversation while doing your cardio you are most likely not working hard enough.

There are many positive benefits to doing Cardio:

1. Helps with weight management

2. Improves circulation

3. Reduces risk of developing diabetes

4. Decreases in blood pressure

5. Reduces the risk of stroke

6. Increases your lung capacity with reduces fatigue

7. Provides mental stimulation, and more …

Bottom line - my suggestion is that you get out there and do some cardio. You will feel energized and reduce your stress.

Happy Cardio
